I love summer, but autumn is actually my favourite time of year - The weather changes, so do the colours of the leaves. Yesterday at Volksgarten parkrun there were a few changes too.
First, there was actually a bit of rain and a lot of wind - Definitely a change from the summer weather. Nevertheless 18 finishers came out to join us. Most were from our core community group in Düsseldorf, four had travelled from Great Britain and one joined us for his first parkrun ever!
Nora WILL was back as our Run Director and led a great team of amazing volunteers:
Rebecca ROES • Stephen FRENCH • Peter KELLY • Antje CHRISTOPEIT • Jasmin BISCHOFF • Alex DILLGE • Nora WILL • Milena TIEVES • Uwe ZIMMERMANN • Oliver HARTMANN • Sebastian WEITZEL • Christiane TODT-HOEHNDORF

The other change we tested yesterday was to create a finisher funnel. We are normally not needing something as involved as this but Thursday we are holding a special event for Unity Day. We are teaming up with Cologne parkrun (Aachener Weiher) who are sending their participants and one of their Event Directors our way - Together we will have an "extra" or "special" parkrun.
Rumour has it that we will have (many) more visitors than usual, so we spent some time figuring out how to welcome you all:
A special thanks to Stephen FRENCH who had planned just to visit and run yet ended up getting roped in to help us unpack and test the gear! To all those who will visit on Thursday, we hope you will enjoy your time us.
The female and age grade records for Volksgarten parkrun are held by Hannah OLDROYD. The male record is held by Volksgarten parkrun co-founder Peter RUTHERFORD.
