Due to the fantastic Sport im Park meets Neckarau parkrun event on 18th August, we might see a few new participants who are not familiar with parkrun. So we thought it would be helpful to post a few details of our event here to answer some common questions:
Do I need to register?
If you want a time for your run/walk then yes and bring your printed barcode along. But its totally ok to join us without registration to run or walk (volunteers are required to pre-register).
If you want to register, do so here: https://www.parkrun.com.de/register/
And if I register, what do I do with my barcode?
Print it out and bring it with you. It will be scanned at the finish line and you will be emailed your time after the event.
How long is it the course?
5km in a lovely loop from the start near Strandbad, then through the Waldpark, along the Rheinufer for a little bit and then at around 2.5km we turn back into the Waldpark towards the start.
Are wheelchair users welcome?
Yes! Our course is very suitable for wheelchair users. The course is ashphalt, forest path and gravel. It's a little bumpy at the final 1km but totally accessible for wheelchairs.
Are kids welcome?
Yes! But they must be accompanied by an adult and if under 11 years old stay within arms reach of their responsible adult at all times.
This includes children who volunteer - they must be registered in advance and supervised by a registered adult.
Our course is also suitable for pushchairs.
Are dogs welcome?
Yes, but kept on a short lead and only one per person.
Are walkers and nordic walkers welcome?
Will I be too slow?
Nope! Our tailwalker always remains the last person on the course to cross the line. No matter how fast or slow you walk or run, you will be assured of a very jubilent cheer at the finish line.
How do I find the start?
We meet at Fransozenweg/Strandbadweg in Neckarau. Just besides the Strandbad car park. Either drive, cycle, run or take the tram line #3 to Rheingoldhalle and walk the final 1km to the start.
What's this about coffee and breakfast afterwards?
Many of us parkrunners stay for coffee and/or breakfast at nearby Purino restaurant (Strandbad) after the event and we would love it if you would join us (at your own cost - bring cash or EC card).
Can I come again?
Yes, parkrun takes place every Saturday at the same place at 9am. Please join us!
