Race Director - Steve Baldock
With spring almost upon us – the promise of a warmer day was tantalisingly close but as yet still out of reach for parkrun start time.
Yes my friends, our 61st parkrun took place on another bitterly cold but thankfully very bright morning and we were happy to welcome a total of 105 runners!
Quite a large number of first time parkrunners and that is always great news – it means that Hasenheide parkrun is growing – there is so much potential here in Berlin.
As usual there was a large contingent of visitors, mainly from the UK and The Republic of Ireland – amongst them were runners from Huddersfield, Sunderland, London,
Birmingham, Cambridge, Monaghan, Oughterard.
I am also shamelessly happy to mention the visitors from my home city of Nottingham!!
In addition – a big thanks to visitors from within Germany – an indication of the growing awareness and popularity of parkrun!
Being run director is easy and pleasurable when you have such a brilliant team with you and our fantastic volunteers this week were:
Grit, Patricia, Christoph, Johannes, Eleonora, Jonas, Susan, Achim, Dorothee, Gesa, Aerelien, Maria
Actually I have to give a special thanks to Maria Tatsch – who visited us today from Schwanenteich parkrun in Giessen and braved the cold weather as a most valuable marshall – thanks Maria!
No milestones to report this week – don't be afraid to give us a heads up of any milestones – you deserve a mention!!
Keep coming to parkrun – spread the word, bring a friend . . . . . and most importantly . . . be a volunteer once in a while.
Cheers - Steve
